There is one thing that is most important in a man’s life. That is his salvation. (Matt.16:26) Many seem to feel they have no need of salvation but the scripture has a definite view on the subject. “All have sinned,” (Rom. 3:23) The first lie was, “You will not really die.”(Gen. 3:4) Paul believed that what God said was true so everyone is under the death penalty. (Rom. 5:12) God had an answer for the problem. (John 3:16 and Rom. 5:8)

Man has tried every solution but to no avail. Man can not save himself. (Jer. 13:23) Christ has a way to do it. (1 John 1:7) But there is still the choice to be made.” (John 8:24) We have the opportunity to pass from death to life. (John 5:24) The only way to have immortality is in Christ. (1 Cor.15:52-54)

Christ paid the price of sin so that we could have His righteousness to replace our sinfulness. (2 Cor. 5:21) We need to truly believe and act like it. (John 3:14-15) Recently, I heard a man say, “A person can be saved if they live right, whether they believe in Jesus or not.” If a believer cannot be saved by works, how can a non-believer be saved by works? Good works are an acknowledgment of our respect and gratitude for having been saved. If we believe in Christ we will repent of our sins. Of course, to do that we must admit that we are sinners and have sins to repent of. (Acts 3:19 and Prov. 28:13)

When Paul and Silas were asked how to obtain salvation, they said,” Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 16:30-31) If you really believe you will act like it. Mercy is available to all. (Rom.1:16) That word “obey" is repeated as a condition of salvation. (Heb. 5:9) Salvation was as real in the Old Testament as in the New. (Isa. 1:18) The solution to our need is found in the Old as well as the New Testament. A new heart and a new spirit. (attitude) (Eze. 36:26, 27)
