Highway 16 just south of Emmett was shut down as emergency personnel respond to a two-vehicle accident involving three Emmett residents on Tuesday.
Pamela R. Crosby, 56, of Emmett, was struck head on by Heidi J. Lund, 40, of Caldwell, in the southbound lane at mile marker 9.5 south of the Jackass Gulch transfer station at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Lund, her passenger, Darrell J. Lund, 39, of Emmett, and Crosby's passenger, John J. Crosby, 28, of Emmett, were transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus for treatment of injuries. Pamela Crosby was not injured, according to the Idaho State Police.
Both lanes of highway were completely blocked to all but emergency vehicle traffic for about two hours. Ada and Gem County deputies and the Idaho Transportation Department assisted with traffic control.
Seatbelts were not worn by the Lunds. The Crosbys were wearing seatbelts. It is unknown if alcohol is a factor at this time. Investigation is continuing by the Idaho State Police.
