James Raymond Bois

Jim Bois, 61, of Emmett passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 17, 2007.

Jim was born in Urbana, Ill. on October 21, 1945 to Col. Raymond F. and Harriette L. Bois. During his childhood, his family moved to multiple locations throughout the U.S. and England while his father was serving in the United States Air Force. They settled in Spokane, Wash. where he graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1963 and with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967 from Whitworth College. He then went to the University of Oregon — (Go Ducks!) in Eugene where he received his Master of Arts in 1969.

He began his career as a high school teacher and coach in Kamiah, Idaho. A year later he moved to Emmett, teaching French, Spanish and English and coaching track and field and cross country. He loved coaching and during his time as the Emmett girls' track coach, they won state four times, in 1974, 1981, 1983 and 1997. Each time he emphasized how the girls' had won and he was truly happy with everything that they had accomplished.

In 1981 he married his love, Marianne Rabe of Emmett. Two years later they were blessed with their daughter Hilary.

In Jim's last wishes, what he wanted for his obituary is, "I did not lose a battle with cancer; Christ has won the victory over death. Where I have been, and what I have done is not important. What is important is Who I know, Who knows me, and what He did on the cross. Jesus saved a sinner by grace."

Jim, we love your quick smile, your kindness, how you care about people and the laughter you bring. We will see you soon.

He is survived by: his wife of 26 years, Marianne; daughter, Hilary Scofield, her husband, Paul and their daughter, Lillie of Meridian; sister, Suzanne Anderson and her husband, Roger of Livermore, Calif.; brother, John W. Bois, his wife, Leslie and their son John P. of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Services were held Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. at The Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett to be followed by a private commitment service.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, PO Box 1494, Boise, Idaho 83701.
